TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin Hackathon Champion Takes Top Prize with SAP® Hybris® Revenue Cloud
MUNICH — December 6, 2017
SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that Quick Insurance this year’s winner at the TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon in Berlin, was built with the SAP® Hybris® Revenue Cloud solution for its pay-as-you-go billing model. This is the second consecutive year in which a Disrupt Hackathon winner based their software on SAP Hybris solutions, with Pointshop.space taking top honors at the 2016 event in San Francisco .
Hundreds of engineers and designers gathered to compete at the hackathon, with just 24 hours to finalize their projects. A mobile app named Quick Insurance claimed the top prize at the Berlin event. The app allows people to purchase insurance for valuable items in a simple way. It is based on a business model where consumers can insure an item only when they need it, which may be for just a few days.
Quick Insurance was recognized for its viable business model, which meets a real consumer need in an underserved market for insurance carriers. The app can plug into existing systems of insurance companies and provide a personal risk assessment. SAP Hybris Revenue Cloud helped make this service a reality through its simplified, automated approach to managing configure price quotes (CPQ), billing and ordering processes from the cloud.
“SAP Hybris Revenue Cloud enables organizations to be nimble in the market and deliver simplified, personalized billing and ordering experiences to customers,” said Eugenio Cassiano, head of innovation of SAP Hybris solutions at SAP. “While SAP works with many of the largest global brands, we’re also proud to collaborate with the most innovative startups – in this case, helping them create new business models in less than 24 hours.”
In addition to Quick Insurance, additional software bids at the Berlin event tapped SAP Hybris solutions. One example is Ad-in , which offers advertisers an easy way to promote their products in games. It uses SAP Hybris Revenue Cloud to generate billing based on viewing duration and frequency of displayed products. Other hackathon candidates using SAP Hybris solutions were BillboardAR, Lightfaden, humble, and Gym-As-You-Go!
